SHINee, Our Inherently Gifted Singers- "We Just Want To Go To Practice Room Upon Waking Up." The 5 handsome teenagers of SHINee are back. The boys have been running all around ever since their comeback. Seeing how these boys are working so hard, I seem to be enlivened by them as well. They are full of energy.
Coming out for the interview with a smile are Onew (20), Jonghyun (19), Key(18), Minho(18) and Taemin (16) who are just as "shining" as before, as well as having grown quite a fair bit. Of course, teenagers can really become the noonas' Romeo.
*Our Hearts Were Itching!Just like now. The name "SHINee" gives people a refreshing feeling, looking at the pronounciation of the name, because of the lifting in the intonation, and the composition of the name which gives of the feeling of "shiny", the boys were able to steal the hearts of noona with their song "Noona, you are so pretty". Following up with "Love Like Oxygen" and "Amigo", their nonstop activities last year allowed them to sweep the Newcomer Awards.
Also, after 4 months, hearing their mini album "Romeo", they have once again stood in front of all the fans. Jonghyun said with a laugh, "We really wanted to let everyone hear our new song quickly, and we were really excited about showing everyone our new performance. Following our previous album, this album took 4 months to prepare."
The boys showed everyone the image of 21st Century Romeo, from wearing their unique masks in their cover photoshhot they have been a much talked about topic. Key explained that "The ethnic acid punk style accessories, clothes and colours along with a strange style created a complex combination that allows us to show SHINee's style to everyone."
The cover was also shot in a carefree atmosphere. The members chatted and had played with water guns, all of these which were recorded into the flims of the cameras.
*Who's Next? The target audience of SHINee members when singing has always been clear cut. Following their debut song "Noona, you are so pretty" which sends their love to noonsa, "Love Like Oxygen" and "Amigo" are ongs which they want the opposite party to listen to, a song that allows the 5 of them to exude all their charms, in order to get the feeling of love from the other party. So now, it's "Juliette".
Who is SHINee's "Juliette"? For the boys who up till now still do not have a girlfriend or have a beautiful romance before, their "Juliette" refers to their fans. We asked them who they would want to sing to in the future, "Yes...Let's try the concept of beauty and the beast. But does that mean we have to turn into beasts?"
Even though they still do not have a girlfriend up till now and they are all very busy, they still have their own ideal types. Perhaps influenced by his composition for "Juliette", Jonghyun now like innocent and pure girls like Olivia Hussey, the main character of the movie "Romeo & Juliet". Key used to set his ideal type as girls who are straightforward but recently changed it to girls who are stylish and have good taste. Minho likes girls who can get along with him well, while Onew is still waiting for the girl who can give him the right feeling to appear. Maknae Taemin said with his unique adorable smile, "I like cute girls who are kind."
*We Became A Lot Closer!Even though it has been less than a year since debut, but when they recount back, they have really changed a lot. Especially during this period of time, everyone has become a lot closer.
Jonghyun said, "In the past, whatever that we think of, we can't really say it out openly. But now we can freely express our thoughts, so it's more carefree." Key's ability to adapt to situations has improved. Key said, "When unexpected incidents happen on stage, I can handle it with more ease. I am better at solving it now."
Onew said, "Even though I am always nervious before going on stage, but as I treat it like I am practising, I gradually realise that going on stage to perform is the happiest thing. Throughout the course of a 1 year, we have been performing, getting first place, gaining many different kinds of experience while performing with other artistes, so I am determined to show everyone that we are constantly improving."
*Newcomer Award, We Will Repay Everyone With Our Best! Looking at SHINee who has won all the Newcomer Awards, when asked if they feel pressured, they simply answered "It's definitely pressurising when we have to answer to expectations. But because there is always a new theme each time, we will do our very best to show everyone a good image."
Key said, "Last year was really the best year. We receieved a lot of love right from the start and also received good awards. Pressure is felt often for sure. We will always pursue the line of a contemporary band, and to always show a new image each time."
*We Became Like Men!When asked which is the member that has changed the most since debut, Jonghyun and Minho both looked at Taemin. Because "He grew a lot taller. Just like someone who is at his puberty age..." Everyone started laughing suddenly. Jonghyun continued saying, "I also feel that there are more members who has became of age. Perhaps it's due to this, compared to our debut times, we have got rid of much childishness."
Taemin who is now a hight school student, has been working hard at studying during the little break time in between activties. Taemin said, "School life is very interesting, and I am grateful to the friends in school."
*2PM Is A Group With Great Personality!Debuting at around the same time as SHINee last year, having done activities together and also beginning their activities in similar periods this year., 2PM has always been taken as comparison to SHINee. What does SHINee think about 2PM?
Key said, "Our style and 2PM's style are different. We have what belongs to us, 2PM also has the style that belongs to them. Rather than being competitors, we see them as colleagues whom we do activities with. The concept of 2AM and 2PM is also pretty fresh."
*We Just Want To Go To Practice Room Upon Waking Up!Unknowingly, I see Onew practising his piano. Because of performance, and only seeing their singing and dance practise, such a image of him sitting at the piano left a deep impression. SHINee who has been constantly practising everyone gives colour to it.
Onew said, "Even when it's our rest day I will still want to go to the practice room. To me, to practise in the practice room, is a practice that is happy and interesting." So advice to all the hardworking hoobaes who are still harbouring their dreams of becoming singers, "Even though it's something that is happy and interesting, you must still put in your best effort."
The boys who uses sweat to spend everyday are not full of fear as to the unpredicatable future. Onew said with a laugh, "Must work hard in the future so that I can live in a house built at a place where I can see the sea." Key is also determined to "Become a very good sunbae, 'a very good sunbae' seems to entails a lot of many meanings, there are many areas to learn and to do well in, I want to be that kind of outstanding sunbae."
Jonghyun said, "I want to make music that is truly outstanding. Because I really like music, so I must work even harder at learning." Minho who loves music also expressed his wish that "I will always do activities as part of SHINee, and just keep working hard just like what I am doing now." Taemin said, "I want to experience many different kinds of experience."
SHINee has always been a group that always puts in their very best in showing everyone what they have. When asked if everyday in the practice room is as interesting as now, what kind of image will the laughging boys sport the next day then? We definitely look forward to seeing the days when teenagers turn into men, and when they leave Korea and advance into the world.
